The Signal Support Systems Specialist:

Supervises, installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and employs battlefield signal support systems; performs unit maintenance on signal equipment and trains users of equipment. Apprentice installs, maintains, and troubleshoots signal support equipment, radio systems, and data distribution systems; provides technical support and training for users. Journeyman supervises, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots signal support systems, radio systems, and battlefield automated systems; provides training and unit technical assistance; prepares maintenance and supply requests. Senior level plans, supervises, and integrates the installation, executes unit maintenance programs, operations orders, and reports; plans and implements unit maintenance programs; directs unit training; provides technical advice and logistics support for unit operations and maintenance. Advanced level supervises, plans , and integrates the installation, employment, and maintenance of signal support systems; develops staff policies and procedures; provides technical advice and assistance to commanders and subordinate units; develops signal battlefield integration plans; coordinates all aspects of signal activities with higher, lower and adjacent headquarters.

THE COMMUNICATIONS SERGEANT

The Communications Sergeant ensures the Troop TOC and its crew are prepared for combat operations, and assists the Executive Officer in the Tactical Operations Center during combat operations. Within his capability, he repairs the communications equipment of subordinate elements.
