The troop NBC NCO works in troop operations where he is immediately available to the troop commander, and advises the commander on NBC matters that effect troop operations. The NBC NCO provides assistance and guidance during troop training operations. The troop NBC NCO recommends the NBC training program. Sources for this program are the SDT and ARTEP results, and guidance from the battalion chemical staff. Training areas include: -Ensuring NBC common tasks training is being sustained by first line supervisors. -Ensuring that leader NBC tasks are sustained. -Integrating NBC collective tasks into unit training. -Integrating NBC as a condition for the performance of METL tasks. -Reports NBC equipment status to battalion chemical staff. Periodically inspects and supervises the operation and team maintenance of NBC equipment. -Coordinates the requisition of NBC equipment ( classes II, and IV ) and repair parts. -Coordinates the turn-in of unserviceable nbc equipment with the supply NCO. -Turns in radiac equipment that needs to be calibrated. -Rotates nbc equipment that contain expiration dates. -Performs protective mask organizational maintenance. -Conducts training on the use of MTO&E NBC equipment. -Advises the commander on decon, smoke, combat flame, and NBC recon support requirements. Recommends the location of operational decon operations. Supervises and assist in the conduct of operational decon, during either operational or thorough decon operations. Ensures contaminated personnel are briefed on the operation and their responsibilities. -Operates out of the troop cp. Monitors reports of NBC attacks and advises the commander on their impact. Receives NBC3 and NBC5 reports from the battalion and plots the information.
